Job Summary
Knowledgeable in overall operation of Durable Medical office.
Basic understanding of billing services to CMS/Medicaid and other third-party payers.
Basic duties include cash posting, billing and delivery compliance, scheduling patient appointments.
Performs a variety of secretarial, clerical, and billing duties in the Durable Medical office.
Maintains records, provides a variety of unsupervised skills.
Assists billing and therapy where appropriate.
Services are provided in accordance with the philosophy, mission, objectives and policies of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Provides services to all customers regardless of age (from birth to maturity), sex or national origin.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Graduate
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office.
Previous secretarial work preferred.
Medical terminology and/or experience in hospital or related setting.
Skills:
Ability to type on a computer and use a computer; ability to follow oral and
written communication.
Communication and problem-solving skills.
Specialized
contact requiring considerable tact.
Skills and abilities to operate all office equipment.
Above average organizational skills.
Able to use EMR and multiple other computer applications.
Performance Requirements
Prolonged sitting at desk/computer work station.
Able to concentrate on detailed work for prolonged periods of time.
Able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow.
Able to lift light objects frequently; perform moderately difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills; sit for prolonged periods; see objects closely; and hear normal sounds with some background noises.
Position requires ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption and attend to tasks for less than 10 minutes at a time.
Individual must be able to understand and relate to specific ideas generally, several at a time.
Able to communicate verbally with standard high-school-level vocabulary.
Environmental and Working Conditions:
Office setting, worker must adjust to performing routine, repetitive tasks under no direct supervision.
Minimal lifting of office supplies of less than 25 lbs.

Reasonable care must be taken when communicating instructions and acquiring history.
